Whatsapp widget

AMJ WhatsApp Chat adds a clean, lightweight WhatsApp contact widget to your website so visitors can start a conversation with a single click. Built for performance and clarity, it supports branded agent info, pre-filled messages, and page-level display controls—ideal for support, sales, and lead qualification.

Major features

  • One-click WhatsApp launch — opens the native app on mobile or WhatsApp Web on desktop.
  • Custom agent profile — name, title, avatar, welcome text.
  • Smart badge & button labels — fully editable microcopy to match your tone.
  • Prefilled message — start the chat with helpful context (e.g., page title, campaign, or query).
  • Auto-open delay — optionally show the widget after a chosen delay (milliseconds).
  • Display rules — show on all pages, only on the homepage, or temporarily disable.
  • Clean, Bootstrap-friendly markup — easy to restyle with your theme.
  • Privacy-aware — no tracking cookies; the widget only opens WhatsApp on user action.
  • Translation-ready — text strings can be localized.

How it works

After you configure the WhatsApp number and labels, a floating badge appears on your site. Clicking it reveals the agent card and a Start Chat button that opens WhatsApp with your Prefill Message. Everything is editable from the plugin settings.

  1. Install & activate the plugin as usual (Upload ZIP or search if hosted in a repo).

  2. Go to Settings → WhatsApp Chat.

  3. Under Agent Details, set:

    • Agent Name (e.g., Brian)

    • Agent Title (e.g., Assistant / Support)

    • Agent Avatar URL (upload or paste an image URL)

    • Intro Message (welcome text shown when the widget opens)

  4. Under Widget Content, set:

    • Badge Text (e.g., Any questions? Ask in WhatsApp)

    • Start Button Text (e.g., Start Chat)

    • WhatsApp Number (digits only with country code)

    • Prefill Message (starter text in the chat)

    • Auto-open Delay (ms) (optional; e.g., 5000 for 5s)

  5. Under Display Settings, choose where to show the widget:

    • All Pages, Homepage Only, or Disable Widget.

  6. Click Save Settings.

  7. (Optional) Purge/clear cache in your caching plugin or CDN.

  8. Test on mobile and desktop. Desktop should open WhatsApp Web.

Troubleshooting

  • Button does not open WhatsApp: Confirm the number is digits-only with country code.

  • Styles look off: Ensure your theme or builder isn’t overriding .btn / .badge; add small CSS tweaks if needed.

  • Auto-open not working: Verify that bootstrap.bundle.js (or your JS stack) doesn’t conflict with the widget script.

  • Multiple caches: Clear server cache, plugin cache, and browser cache.
